His mother, a devoted woman who loves her son more than anything, shared her heartbreaking story with us. Once homeless, they slept near traffic lights because she couldn’t afford rent. Her son, Heng, suffers from a debilitating skin condition that causes unimaginable discomfort. Most nights, he can’t sleep, crying in from the pain.
Despite her own hunger, Heng’s Mother ensures he is fed, often surviving on just rice porridge herself. “Even if I only drink water, I don’t mind as long as he’s okay,” she says.
Heng’s condition is genetic and incurable, but doctors believe with the right treatment, the condition can be managed. He doesn’t need to live in constant pain. We are committed to helping this family and easing Heng’s suffering, but we can’t do it alone.
We need to raise $2,000 to cover his immediate medical bills, including interstate travel, and we will need regular givers to sign up to cover $200 a month for his ongoing care and a special diet to help get his condition under control.
